Our travel programme
Begin in Lima, Peru's coastal capital, where colonial plazas and cliff-top neighborhoods meet a world-class food scene. A full-day guided tour sets the cultural stage, while a free day invites you to taste the city's contemporary energy-street markets, seaside promenades, and cafés.
Fly to Cusco, the former Inca capital, to explore golden temples, cyclopean stonework, and artisan quarters. Your 10-Day Tourist Ticket opens doors to landmark sites, while a guided city tour with lunch weaves history into living streets and plazas. A free day gives you room to acclimatize or add an optional high-Andes adventure.
Roll into the Sacred Valley one village at a time: overnight in Pisac after visiting ruins and an alpaca farm, then settle in Ollantaytambo to uncover Moray's amphitheaters, the Maras salt mines, and Chinchero's weaving traditions. Board the scenic train to Aguas Calientes for an expertly guided Machu Picchu visit, then return to Cusco for a final night before flying back to Lima.
Day 1: Arrival in Lima
Welcome to Peru! After your arrival in Lima, you will be met and taken comfortably to your hotel in the lively Miraflores district. The fresh sea breeze from the Pacific, palm trees along the promenade and the soft light over the cliffs will immediately give you that holiday feeling. Use the first evening for a walk along the coast or for your first ceviche in one of the city's excellent restaurants. The journey begins relaxed - and full of anticipation.
Services: Hotel accommodation in Lima, private transfer
Day 2: Lima
Today you will immerse yourself in the history of the Peruvian capital. The Plaza de Armas, the cathedral and the San Francisco monastery with its centuries-old walls await you in the colonial centre.
Later you will experience the creative Barranco with its colourful facades and bohemian flair as well as the spectacular cliffs of Miraflores. Your guide combines pre-Columbian roots with colonial heritage and modern city life - Lima is multifaceted and lively.
Services: Hotel accommodation in Lima (breakfast), full-day city tour
Day 3: Lima
Today, Lima is at your leisure. Perhaps start the day with a stroll along the coastal promenade of Miraflores, enjoy the view of the Pacific or watch the hustle and bustle in the parks above the cliffs. Alternatively, museums, local markets or small cafés invite you to get to know the city even better. Those who wish can take part in an optional food and socio-cultural tour and experience Lima's culinary diversity from a new perspective.
A relaxing day to soak up the atmosphere of the capital before travelling on to the Andes.
Services: Hotel accommodation in Lima (breakfast)
Day 4: Cusco
A new stage of your journey begins today. Take a private transfer to the airport and fly from Lima to Cusco. The first impressions of the Andes can already be seen on the approach - a completely different landscape to the coast. On arrival, you will be welcomed and taken to your hotel.
The rest of the day is at your leisure to acclimatise to the altitude. A quiet stroll through the charming San Blas neighbourhood or across the Plaza de Armas will give you your first impressions of this historic city, where Inca walls and colonial architecture merge in a special way.
Services: Hotel accommodation in Cusco (breakfast), transfers & domestic flight
Day 5: Cusco
Today you will immerse yourself in the history of the former Inca capital. With your 10-day tourist ticket, you begin the guided city tour through Cusco and its most important sights. You will visit the Koricancha, once the most important sun temple of the Incas, as well as the impressive Sacsayhuamán fortress with its monumental stone blocks. Your guide will vividly explain how Inca architecture and Spanish colonial architecture overlap and still characterise the cityscape today.
A shared lunch rounds off the cultural morning. In the evening, there is time to stroll through the illuminated alleyways or savour the Andean cuisine in a local restaurant.
Services: Hotel accommodation in Cusco (breakfast, lunch), guided city tour & 10-day tourist ticket
Day 6: Cusco
After the intensive previous day, this day is deliberately more open. Cusco unfolds its charm especially when you take your time: for small cafés in San Blas, for markets with hand-woven textiles or for museums that bring you closer to pre-Columbian art and history.
Your 10-day tourist ticket gives you access to selected sites in and around the city. The day is also ideal for further acclimatisation to the altitude. If you want to be active, you can take an optional full-day tour to Rainbow Mountain or Humantay Lake (not included) - spectacular nature experiences in a high alpine landscape.
Whether quiet or active - this day gives you the freedom to experience Cusco at your own pace.
Services: Hotel accommodation in Cusco (breakfast)
Day 7: Cusco - Pisac
Today you leave Cusco and drive down into the Sacred Valley of the Incas. The landscape opens up, the mountains appear further away, the climate becomes somewhat milder - a noticeable transition from the city to rural Andean life. High above the valley, you visit the ruins of Pisac with their extensive terraces and impressive views. Here it becomes clear how skilfully the Incas combined agriculture, architecture and nature.
In the village itself, you will experience market life and visit an alpaca farm, where you will learn more about the importance of Andean camelids and traditional textile production. In the evening, enjoy the quieter atmosphere of the Sacred Valley - a relaxing contrast to the lively energy of Cusco.
Services: Hotel overnight stay in the Sacred Valley (breakfast), day tour Pisac & alpaca farm
Day 8: Pisac - Ollantaytambo
Today you continue travelling along the Urubamba River through the Sacred Valley. The Andes accompany you with terraced slopes, small villages and sweeping views of the surrounding mountains. Your destination is Ollantaytambo - one of the best-preserved Inca cities in Peru. Walking through the narrow alleyways with original stone paths, you can still feel the history of this special place today. High above the village rises the imposing fortress with its huge terraces and monumental walls.
In the afternoon, there is time to soak up the atmosphere of the village and observe rural life in the valley.
Services: Hotel accommodation in the Sacred Valley (breakfast), private transfer
Day 9: Sacred Valley - Moray, Maras & Chinchero
Today you will discover the diversity of the Sacred Valley. In Moray, you will be impressed by the circular terraces, which probably served as an agricultural experimentation centre for the Incas - a fascinating interplay of geometry and nature. Continue to the shimmering salt pans of Maras, which stretch across the hillside like a mosaic and have been traditionally cultivated for centuries. In Chinchero, you will experience the living tradition of craftsmanship and learn more about the art of Andean weaving.
A day that harmoniously combines history, landscape and culture.
Services: Hotel accommodation in the Sacred Valley (breakfast), full-day tour of the Sacred Valley
Day 10: Panorama train to Aguas Calientes
The next stage towards Machu Picchu begins today. You board the PeruRail panoramic train, which takes you through the impressive gorge of the Urubamba River. Large windows open up wide views of mountains, green slopes and the winding river - the journey itself is an experience in itself.
After arriving in Aguas Calientes, there is time for a walk through the small town by the river. The surroundings seem more tropical and denser, signalling that the highlight of the trip is approaching: The highlight of the journey is approaching.
Services: Overnight stay in hotel in Aguas Calientes (breakfast), train journey Ollantaytambo - Aguas Calientes (PeruRail)
Day 11: Machu Picchu
Early in the morning, you will drive up to the legendary citadel of Machu Picchu. During your private, detailed guided tour, you will discover temples, terraces and ceremonial sites and learn more about the history and significance of this unique place. Between stone walls and green mountain peaks, you will experience a moment that combines history, nature and mysticism. Your guide will leave room for explanations as well as personal impressions and photo moments.
Return to Aguas Calientes in the afternoon.
Services: Hotel accommodation in Aguas Calientes (breakfast), private 4-hour guided tour of Machu Picchu
Day 12: Cusco
Today you leave Aguas Calientes and travel back to Ollantaytambo with IncaRail. Once again, green mountain slopes and the Urubamba River will pass you by before you continue by bus to Cusco. In the afternoon, there is time for your own plans: perhaps a last museum visit with your tourist ticket, a stroll through the market or a relaxed café in San Blas. The day is ideal for letting the impressions of the past few days sink in.
Services: Hotel accommodation in Cusco (breakfast), train Aguas Calientes - Ollantaytambo, transfer
Day 13: Departure
Today it's time to say goodbye to the Andes. A private transfer will take you to the airport in Cusco, from where you will board your domestic flight to Lima.
Your journey through Peru ends with many impressions - from colonial charm to the Sacred Valley and the magic of Machu Picchu. You will then continue your journey individually. Hasta pronto!
